The Lifelong Learner - Back to "School"

Throughout my many years in the banking industry, navigating the complexities of Credit, Trade, Operational Risk, and Business Continuity Management (BCM), the one constant has been the need for Resilience.

As a banker who has spent decades analysing balance sheets and assessing Credit risk, I’ve learned that "knowledge" is only as good as your ability to apply it.

This past December, I officially completed my HRD Corp (HRDF) Trainer Certification.

Many have asked: "Why now? Why a trainer certification after such a long career in the core of banking?"

The answer lies in the "Implementation Gap."

After numerous writings about Climate Change, CCPT, and VBIAF, I realized that the greatest "Climate Risk" we face is the Knowledge Gap. Bridging the gap between a standard Credit application and a Climate Risk assessment requires more than just reading a policy; it requires the science of adult learning to make the complex "stick."

A heartfelt thank you to my trainer, Jeyaraman Seenivasagam (Jeya). Under the guidance of the "Trainer of Trainers," I was able to transition my mindset from being a subject matter expert who "knows" to a facilitator who "empowers."

This certification taught me how to turn dense regulatory frameworks into actionable insights. It’s about ensuring that when a Relationship Manager looks at a client's transition plan, they aren't just checking a box; they are applying a Credit lens to a sustainable future.

I am moving into 2026 not just as a practitioner, but as a certified trainer dedicated to building the "Green Competency" of our banking ecosystem.

The Lesson: In a rapidly evolving ESG landscape, your most valuable asset is your ability to LEARN, UN-LEARN and RE-LEARN.
