“Something Is Shifting Beyond CCPT .....Are We Ready?”

For the past two years, many of us in banking have been focused on understanding and applying Bank Negara Malaysia’s Climate Change and Principle-based Taxonomy (CCPT).

We’ve learned how to classify exposures. We’ve started asking better questions. Some of us have even begun to see climate risk not just as compliance, but as credit insight.

But as we get more familiar with CCPT… something is beginning to shift.

Recently, BNM issued a call for feedback as it looks to further strengthen Malaysia’s sustainable finance approach; this time, with closer alignment to the ASEAN Taxonomy for Sustainable Finance.

At first glance, it may seem like just another regulatory development.

But step back for a moment…

This is not just about refinement. It may be the early signal of something bigger.

The video below explains further... . . . Please find my thoughts in the comments section.

In the next post, I’ll explore a question many are quietly asking: "How does ASEAN Taxonomy differ from CCPT" and "What does that actually mean in practice for bankers?"

Stay tuned for “Beyond CCPT: A Banker’s Guide to ASEAN Sustainable Finance” Series.
