Beyond CCPT: A Banker’s Guide to ASEAN Sustainable Finance - Series 6/6
Beyond Frameworks : What This Shift Means for Us as Bankers ??
Over the past few posts, I’ve shared a simple journey:
From understanding Bank Negara Malaysia’s CCPT to exploring how it may connect to the ASEAN Taxonomy for Sustainable Finance. Along the way, we touched on: 🔵 Classification 🔵 Transition 🔵 Conversations with clients 🔵 Portfolio direction
But stepping back from the frameworks for a moment… "What does this really mean for us as bankers?" A quiet shift in our role. Not away from what we already do well, but an expansion of it. From: ▶️ Assessing financial strength To also: ⏩ Understanding future direction From: ▶️ ⏩ Evaluating risk To also: Recognizing transition opportunity
It starts with how we see our clients Not just as: ▶️ Borrowers to be assessed But as: ⏩ Businesses navigating change Some will move faster. Some will take time. But increasingly, how they respond to this shift will matter. And perhaps, how we respond will matter too. Not in big, dramatic ways. But in: ♻️ The questions we ask ♻️ The conversations we have ♻️ The perspectives we bring into our decisions
A simple reflection 🔓 CCPT gave us a starting point. 🔏 ASEAN Taxonomy may help us connect across markets.
But beyond frameworks, this is really about one thing: ✔️ How we evolve as bankers in a changing landscape.
This series has been a personal reflection, a way of making sense of what is unfolding around us. And perhaps, a small step towards navigating it together.
