Relationship Managers as Drivers of Climate Transition - A Journey : How RMs Can Help Customers Turn Climate Transition into Business Opportunities??

When climate transition is discussed, many businesses focus on the risks: ⚠️ New regulations ⚠️ Carbon pricing ⚠️ Rising compliance requirements ⚠️ Changing customer expectations ⚠️ Increasing operating costs While these risks are real, there is another side to the story.

The transition to a low-carbon economy is also creating new business opportunities. In fact, many of tomorrow's industry leaders may be the companies that start preparing today.

We are already seeing growth opportunities in: 🔹 Renewable energy solutions 🔹 Energy-efficient manufacturing 🔹 Green buildings 🔹 Electric vehicle (EV) ecosystems 🔹 Circular economy businesses 🔹 Sustainable agriculture 🔹 Low-carbon supply chains

Consider a building materials company.

Historically, its business may have competed primarily on price and availability. Today, however, developers are increasingly seeking materials that improve energy efficiency, reduce carbon emissions, and support green building certifications.

What was once a niche market is becoming a competitive advantage.

Similarly, manufacturers that invest in energy efficiency today may benefit from: ✔ Lower operating costs ✔ Stronger margins ✔ Better access to international markets ✔ Improved attractiveness to investors and customers

This is where Relationship Managers (RMs) can create significant value.

Rather than discussing climate transition purely from a risk perspective, RMs can help customers identify emerging opportunities within their industries.

Guided by Bank Negara Malaysia's CCPT, conversations can evolve from: ⚠️ "How do we manage climate risk?" to ✅ "How can we position your business to benefit from the transition?"

Because the transition economy will create both challenges and opportunities. And increasingly, one of the most valuable roles an RM can play is helping customers identify where those opportunities exist and how to capture them.
